Dallas, TX - CaymanMama News Report The executives of General Motors Corporations have stated that within a decade, there is a possibility of arrival of cars that will be automatically driven and even parked, without any kind of human interference. In a recent dialogue, the vice-president of General Motors, Larry Burns, said that “This is not science fiction”. Numerous university engineers, part suppliers and automakers have been engaged to design these driverless cars, and the most possible obstacles that the vehicle may face will be from the human side, and not technical. It has been estimated that these driverless self-driven cars will be drastically helpful in reducing congestion and accidents on roads.

General Motors is planning to use an antenna and a computer chip in order to link these cars with self-driving technologies. The company states that it is planning to test the technology used in these cars by the year 2015, and launching the cars in the market around the year 2018. Later version of these cars will direct the vehicles to space and will make the maximum use of space especially on a freeway. The other features of these drivers-less cars will be the possibility of vehicle to vehicle communication facilitating the cars to communicate with systems of the highway.
“Where it shakes out remains to be seen but there is no question we see a lot of potential there,” says Rae Tyson, a spokesperson for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Some of the questions still existing include the issues about drivers’ privacy, what will happen to the current running vehicles, and how many cars will be needed in order to extend an effectual network.
