Both the countries had been indulging accusations among each other while weekend argument involving Navy Warships of U.S and Iranian in the passage of Hormuz.
The United States emphasizes that despite the warning in order to stay away from the warships, the Iranian vessels consciously sped towards them. The criticism for Iran by Bush came while attending a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem.
Bush named the incident “a very dangerous gesture” by Iran and warned the Islamic republic against any escalation. Bush further said “We have made it very clear, and they know our position, and that is there will be serious consequences if they attack our ships, pure and simple.”
The National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley, earlier in the day stated the incident that took place in the Strait of Hormuz nearly triggered an exchange of fire and if this would happen again, there may be a battle.
The Pentagon released the dramatic video of the encounter that occurred on Sunday in the narrow critical channel to the delivery of oil from Persian Gulf. According to state-run media, Iran navy alleged that the movie was faked. Further Hadley stated that the incident could have provoked a fire exchange and it is necessary for Iranians to notice that they are fishing in deep troubled waters.
