2008-02-02 17:09:27 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Cayman Islands News)The commitment of Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital of making available best possible medical services in Cayman Islands is finally turning into reality with the visit of the two specialists that will immensely improve the cancer and cardiac treatment capabilities of the hospital.
An announcement was made last week that suggested about the arrival of an internal medicine specialist and one oncologist as the new additions to the team of Chrissie Tomlinson. They who will further join the cardiologist, Jeffrey Michal, who is a specialist in cardiovascular research and non-invasive imaging. The arrival had been held as a part of the partnership made with Sagicor, Theodore.
“This is one of our first endeavors to bring on specialists to improve the level of care we can offer the Cayman Islands,” Bill Brown, chief administrator of CTMH said.
A full-time urologist along with the newest internist Dr. Komal Lawrence has also been included in the hospital.
Dr, Turnquest is an Internal Medicine in U.S. and an oncology from a certified board. He has been spending much of his time at CTH, dividing his time among his own place Bahamas and Grand Cayman since several months now.
“Our goal was to bring oncology at CTMH up to the level of US–based secondary care, and I’m confident we can provide 95 per cent of available oncology treatments here in Cayman. That means many more patients will be able to stay at home with their families instead of undergoing costly hospital treatment overseas,” he said.
“Our focus will be on providing non–invasive imaging here in Cayman, like the echocardiogram,” mentioned Dr. Michal, who is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Sarnoff Edowment for Cardiovascular Research.
