Pakistan - Pre election situation, country in chaos

An uneasy calm exists here in this country on the evening of Saturday. People after hearing rumors, reports of arrests of terrorists, warnings from the intelligence agencies feel they are in fix.
It’s not just the so called democratic process; here political parties are fighting their pound of flesh. People wait for the person who takes the seat of the premier of the country and see what the elected representatives do.
The past experiences have not been good. Pakistan Peoples Party came to power after the death of General Zia-ul-Haq. Benazir failed to deliver what was expected from her and the people of Pakistan found them selves betrayed. Following the outset of Benazir Bhutto, came the regime of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the political party, known a PML (Pakistan Muslim League) now known as Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz Group). He was voted to power by the people of Pakistan; just once again found that they had relied on the wrong people.
While playing the cat and mouse game, the power mongers decided to try out Benazir Bhutto once again and the people found her as the captain of the sinking ship. Just this time to see that the leader of the people, by the people and for the people had packed her bags with the wealth of the country to buy Surrey Palace and $10 million diamond necklace and uncountable wealth in the Swiss bank accounts. The common man, the businessmen found themselves a hostage in the hands of her husband who wanted the piece of cake from the earnings of the industrialists and business, he also earned the name of Mr. 10%.
Nawaz Sharif once again came to power and the leading lady had to find her way out of the country. But this time Nawaz Sharif’s role was cut short by General Pervaiz Musharraf, who ended the Tom and Gerry game. The people of Pakistan now felt that they were safe but were still against the army rule.
To make the situation worse, the country this time faces threats of suicide bombing and mass killing by the militants. The lives of common man is once again at risk, as those who get killed are the innocent and the political leader are the merry men who get the sympathy vote.
What ever has happened in the past many years is not a secret but the purpose of writing the well known political history of the country is to bring to the attention of the readers is that people of the country are absolutely unclear about the character and the exact mission of the political leaders of the country. Who should they vote for and why should they vote for the same people who have betrayed their trust. Will they be sincere to this country and work for the well being of the people who bring them to power or will these politician after coming into power forget how they have pleaded for votes and had come to the door steps of the people and now sit in their air conditioned rooms and fill their bank accounts and issue empty political statements which the people of the country are now so used to.
