Pakistan Peoples party to lead the coalition government

Islamabad, Pakistan: Pakistan People Party who got the mandate of the people in the February 18th election is all set to form a coalition government. Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of PPP and Nawaz Sharif, Chief of PML-N will be meeting today to decide on various issues of forming the government and to choose other coalition partners. PPP will, however, will lead the coalition government.

Nawaz Sharif maintains his conditions for forming alliance with PPP

Lahore, Pakistan: PML-N chief, Nawaz Sharif has decided his terms to form an alliance with PPP. He said his terms of reinstating the judiciary, repealing the amendments made to the constitution, freedom of press are firm and will form the basis of forming alliance with any political force. Nawaz Sharif and Zardari will be meeting on Thursday.

Asif Zardari makes all efforts to come to terms in wake of forming a government

Islamabad, Pakistan: Asif Ali Zardari, in a press conference held here yesterday, clarified his position on forming the government. He said he is willing to talk to all democratic political forces and would like to join hand with them to form a government. “We are interested in changing the system and for that national consensus is necessary,” said Mr. Zardari.

While replying to a question related to forming a government in the provincial assembly in Sindh, he said that though Pakistan Peoples Party has gained majority and would not need any coalition partners but he would like to join hands with MQM and work with them in Sindh.

Musharraf to work with the new PM

Islamabad, Pakistan: The President of Pakistan has time and again termed the Prime Minister as the pillar of the state and the three pillars that are the President, the Prime Minister and the Army must work closely for the interest of the country. The President said, any clash between the new PM and himself will harm the interest of the country. A clash would only occur if the President and the PM would make moves to get rid of each other and he hopes that such a situation should not arise.

Money laundering case against Zardari

Geneva: Money laundering case of US $55 million to be sent to Swiss courts. The Swiss lawyers representing Pakistan have pressed to open the case in which Zardari’s name appears as the beneficiary of the offshore companies.

Lawyers plan to march to Islamabad is judiciary not restored

Lahore, Pakistan: If judiciary is not restored by March 08, the lawyers from all over the country will march to Islamabad and protest. Mr. Aitzaz Ahsan, the president of Supreme Court Bar Council said yesterday to the gathering of lawyers who carried him on their shoulder and brought him outside his residence, yesterday.

He is still under house arrest but he confirmed that immediately after the election his telephone connections have been restored and he has been allowed to meet people.

Democracy International reports on their observation

Islamabad, Pakistan: Democracy International, US poll observes have reported their findings about the electoral process and the political environment in Pakistan. The reports speaks on the serious issues like ban imposed on political activities, ban on media, sacking of judges, restriction on rallies have hampered the election process.

The election commission also worked under influence of the President and the government.

Karachi Stock Exchange Index touches all time high level

Karachi, Pakistan: Karachi Stock Exchange 100 index reached the peak level of 14,957.48 points but failed to sustain the high level. The session closed with a slight drop in index at 14,829.58 with a gain of 32.40 points.
