Los Angeles, California: CNN reported that the European actors were at an advantage on Sunday night at the Oscars, in which ‘No Country for Old Men’ won 4 awards including best picture award and best director award. At the same time, four awards for acting were won by Europeans including Marion Cotillard, Javier Bardem, Daniel Day Lewis and Tilda Swinton. The Coen brothers won the best director award and best adapted screen play award, Barden won the award for best supporting actor and Scott Rudin, producer of the movie, shared the award for the best picture with the Coen brothers.

“We’re very thankful to all of you out there for letting us continue to play in our corner of the sandbox, so thank you very much,” said Joel Coen while accepting the best direction award. The Coen brothers have also been known for their style and humour in films like ‘Fargo’, ‘the Big Lebowski’ and ‘O brother, where art thou’. Day-Lewis won the best actor award for his role as one misanthropic oilman in the film ‘There will be blood’.

He expressed his thanks by saying “My deepest thanks to the members of the Academy for whacking me with the handsomest bludgeon in town.” Tilda Swinton grabbed the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role as a lawyer in ‘Michael Clayton.’ The first Oscar award of the night was given to ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ for best costume designs. In short terms, ‘No Country for old men’ grabbed four awards, ‘The Bourne Ultimatum won three and ‘There will be blood’ picked up two.
