Macbook Air- A thinning revolution
2008-03-11 17:45:08 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Featured Reviews News)A few months ago, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, announced their newest notebook, the MacBook Air. The Air was touted to be the world’s thinnest laptop ever, and coming from Apple, this was no surprise. Apple has always been famous for their breakthrough innovations in technology, be it the their first ever notebook, the first generation iPod, or their latest smartphone, the apple iPhone.
The MacBook air weighs a mere three pounds and measures 12.8’’ by 0.76’. When taking a first look at this notebook you are blown away by its thinness, but one begins to wonder, is the Air beauty and brains? The answer is yes. The Air has everything one looks for in an ideal computer. Lets take a look why.
Boasting of a high gloss 13.3” screen, the Air comes fully equipped with Apple’s latest operating system Leopard OS X, which is quite user friendly-even for the first time Mac user. As far as the processor goes it comes with a standard intel Core 2 1.6 processor which runs at 1.6 GHz, however for a few more bucks, you do have the option to upgrade to 1.8 GHz. Memory is 2GB with a standard 80GB hard drive.
ike any other Mac the air comes with a myriad of convenient features, including built in Wi-Fi, a must for Starbucks lovers who enjoy browsing the web or getting some work done while there. One of my favorite features on a Mac is indeed the iSight built in web camera. This small web camera featured at the very top of the Air is ideal for those who love to take pictures, make videos, and even video chat with loved ones from any corner of the world. The newest feature ever to be on a MacBook is the multi touch pad which uses the same touch technology as the iPhone’s innovative touch screen. With this new innovation you can rotate, drag, or do many other actions simply with the touch of a finger. The only drawback of this beautiful and smart notebook is that, in order to fulfill its “thin” requirements Apple had to take out the standard CD/DVD drive and provide it as an external USB based drive. All together, Apple has done it once again. The MacBook Air is an ideal notebook for those who want a skinny laptop that packs a subtle boom in features. The Air is available in stores now, and starts off at $1799.00
