Islamabad: First session of the newly elected parliament begin in Islamabad today. The session was due to begin at 9:00 AM today but the newly elected members were seen arriving late due to the strict security checks that have been implemented in Islamabad.

Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party will be entering the parliament house after 11 years and Nawaz Sharif, chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N) will enter the parliament building after 8 years. But both the party leader will be witnessing the session from the visitors gallery as both were not allowed to take part in the February 18, elections.

The rift between the Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his party’s president Amin Fahim seems to have deepened over the of the premiership issue.

PML-Q and MQM have joined hands and will be sitting in the opposition seats. Dr. Farooq Sattar has been nominated as the candidate for the Prime Minister’s position by the opposition coalition partners.
