Newly elected parliament members take oath

Islamabad: The newly elected MNA’s took oath yesterday. The outgoing speaker of the National Assembly administered the oath. The graceful oath talking ceremony was attended by the leader of Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League (N) who witnessed the proceeding from the visitor’s gallery of the National Assembly. PPP has not yet name their candidate for the position of Prime Minister which has created uncertainty in the political arena.

The remains of dictatorship will be wiped out – the coalition partners renew their pledge

Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Shairf, Maulana Fazlur Rahman and leader of the Awami National Party Mr. Asfandyar Wali renewed their pledge to wipe of the remains of dictatorship. They reiterated that they remain committed to issues of National Interest and on their decisions on restoration of judiciary, reinstatement of 1973 constitution and to maintain the supremacy of the parliament.

Clear conflict with the President seen in the first session of National Assembly

Islamabad: The newly elected members during their oath taking ceremony on the first session of the National Assembly undertook a resolution that they will protect and defend the constitution as it was on November 02, 2007. They also signed a requisition to convene the next session of the National Assembly soon if the President tried to postpone it.

Dr. Fahmida Mirza nominated as the speaker of new National Assembly

Islamabad: Dr. Fahmida Mirza has been nominated by PPP for the position of speaker of the National Assembly. Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi’s name has been forwarded for Deputy Speaker’s post. The election for the two positions will be help on Wednesday.

Aziz to be held accountable for the current economic crisis in the country - PPP

Islamabad: Nabil Gabol, newly elected member of the National Assembly and a die hard leader of Pakistan Peoples Party has said that former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will be called back through a parliamentary committee and would be held accountable for the current economic crisis in the country.

Karachi Stock Exchange looses 44.07 points

Karachi: The trading session did not respond positively even though the new parliament session was underway. The inflation, power crisis and host of economic challenges that the country is facing marred the trading activities. The KSE-100 index fell by 44.07 but closed above 15,000 points. At close of the day’s session the KSE-100 index remained at 15,043.40 points.
