National Assembly to elect Prime Minister today

Islamabad: Musharraf had called the National Assembly session today at 4:00PM. Makhdoom Yusuf Raza Gilani’s name has been announced by the Pakistan Peoples Party for the position of Prime Minister. He is all set to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan as the PPP has been assured by the other member of the parliament and the MQM for an unconditional support for their candidate.

Pakistan Muslim League (Q) files Pervaiz Elahi’s paper for Prime Ministers position

Islamabad: The opposition leaders have filed papers of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as their nominee for the position of Prime Minister. This will create a little steer in the National Assembly when it will convene today as this action from the opposition will just bring up a token challenge for Yusuf Raza Gilani.

Crack in the coalition – Nawaz Sharif against forming alliance with MQM

Mansehra: “We know who is behind the killing of 48 people on May 12, 2007” says Nawaz Sharif. He was talking to newsmen about the inclusion of MQM in the coalition government. The Pakistan Muslim League (N) is not comfortable with MQM as coalition partner in the PPP led alliance.

Nawaz Sharif has clear reservations on the inclusion of MQM in the new government. He said that not even the Urdu speakers who are not the part of MQM want this party to be part of government and want the report of May 12th 2007’s Karachi incident to be made public.

Unconditional support extended by MQM

Islamabad: Yusuf Raza Gilani received a delegation of MQM team at the Parliament House yesterday. The team assured Mr. Gilani of their unconditional support.

Pervaiz Musharraf promises to work with the new government

Islamabad: While addressing the Pakistan Day Parade yestereday, President Pervaiz Musharraf reassured the people of Pakistan that he was prepared to work with the new government and expressed his hopes that the new government will work in the best interest of the country in the center and in the provinces.
