In her career as a brilliant impersonator, Tracey Ullman played characters such as Helen Mirren, Andy Rooney and Renee Zellweger. She said that she does not want to portray herself as a pretty girl but she always wanted to be a terrible looking person on television. She further said upon new sketch-comedy series on Showtime, ‘Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union’ that she likes to represent herself as an ugly woman or a stepsisiter or an individual surrounded by lots of problems. She prefers to be pathetic. Ullman has till now produced five-episode series of ‘State of the Union’ with Allan McKeown, her husband.
According to this British born actress, the title of this show gives her an explanation to take pulse of the nation. She became the citizen of US in 2006, after spending almost two decade in this country. The characters of this show include a fatigued illegal-immigrant worker in Manhattan, Nancy Pelosi-Speaker of the House, a tractor-riding farmer’s wife in North Carolina, soccer superstar David Beckham and Lindsay Lohan’s mom, former “Sopranos” star Tony Sirico and political pundit Arianna Huffington.
The upcoming episode of her show will include, Renee Zellweger, Cameron Diaz, Helen Mirren, a superstar from Malawi coming to the U.S. to adopt American kids, and in a parody of Angelina Jolie’s humanitarian efforts.
But Ullman is most fond of her one character called Gretchen Pincus who has teary eyes, is a low rent female who met her offender husband on a website deathrowpenpals.com.
