Islamabad: Pakistan and France, defense officials signed a on a 2008 – 09 defense collaboration plan yesterday.

United Nations: The Pakistan’s UN ambassador called for broader agreement on disarmament and non proliferation. He stressed on the need of arriving at a consensus broader goals and parameters and to make non discriminatory rules.

Ex-minister gets beaten up by lawyers

Lahore: Ex-minister who had portfolio of law and parliamentary affairs Sher Afghan got beaten up by lawyers yesterday. The incident not only brought a black mark on the lawyer’s movement but also raised many question the law and order situation in the country. According to some high ups in the lawyers community and the footage shown on the local TV channels the role of police in the whole incident and involvement of elements who want to jeopardize the political process of the country.

Musharraf calls National Assembly session on Thursday

Islamabad: Musharraf requisitioned the new National Assembly’s first normal session on Thursday on request of the new government. Among the issues that would be taken up in the session includes the reinstatement of the judiciary.

Karachi Stock Exchange shows a modest gain of 4.33 points
