“CNN took preventative measures to filter traffic in response to attempts to disrupt our Web site. A small percentage of CNN.com users in Asia are impacted,” the network commented.
They further continued, “We do not know who is responsible, nor can we confirm where it came from.”
A spokesperson of CNN said that the trouble was noticed around midday on Thursday and measures were taken to deal with this trouble separately by restricting it to a few users who were able access the site from some particular geographic areas.
Due to this, a few users in those specific areas has to experience a transitory slowdown phase while they access the site, he added.
However, spokesman failed to provide an estimate about the number of users that were affected. He said that its affect on the everyday usage was unnoticeable and that there was no time that the site can be claimed to go down.
Services were resumed to normal by Friday noon, he said.
