New York: Fearful residents of Tudor City on Wednesday announced a lawsuit Sheldon Solow to save their city from dirt and darkness. According to the lawsuit, the City Council and City Planning Commission approved the venture of Sheldon Solow’s plan at the Con Ed site on the bank of river East River against the wishes of local residents. The cost of Sheldon Solow’s project is $4 billion.

According to the plan, there will be seven huge towers near the East River where the tallest tower will have a height of 595 feet. It will feature 3,000 apartments along with a commercial space of 1 million square feet and 69,000 square feet for retail section. However, once the project is completed, Tudor City will be shadowed by the tall skyscrapers. It is a usual feeling among residents who will be overwhelmed by grime and dust for a period of two or three years. Given the fact that the area is land marked, residents will have to permission from Land marks Perservation Commission so as to replace the iron window frames with more solid ones so as to cut off the dust and noise.

However, taking about the stance of residents, Edan Unterman of East Midtown Coalition said, “They have been arrogant from beginning to end. It is very important to people to have a say in how their neighborhood looks and whether or not developers can come in and change it.”
