Islamabad: President Pervaiz Musharraf and the Iranian President Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agreed on the signing an agreement of $7.5 billion of gas pipeline during the Iranian President’s short stopover visit to Pakistan. Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is on his South Asia tour.
Zardari hopes PML-(N) not be part away on judiciary issue
Dubai: Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of PPP hopes that the PML-N will not detach themselves from the coalition on the issue of restoration of judiciary. He wants to bring in a constitutional package to bring constructive reform in the judicial system of the country. Along with reinstatement of the sacked judges, the current judges would also be allowed to function.
Asif and Shahbaz meeting in Dubai indecisive
Dubai: Pakistan People Party and Pakistan Muslim League leaders met in Dubai to arrive at a decision regarding reinstatement of sacked judges and of the deposed Chief Justice of Supreme Court. The meeting did not bring results. Both the leader refrained from making any comments to the media about their meeting. Shahbaz Sharif, however extended his stay in Dubai for the second round of talk that are expected in the next 24 hours.
MQM and Pakistan Peoples Party agree in Power sharing formula in Sindh
Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Pakistan Peoples Party have agreed on the power sharing formula and to form a coalition in the province of Sindh.
Pakistani Taliban leader blames Pakistani government for break in peace negotiations
Khar: The deadlock occurred in the peace negotiations between in Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud and the government of Pakistan. Baitullah blamed the Pakistani government for disrupting the discussion as they were not willing to withdraw troops from Waziristan, Darra Adamkhel and Swat.
KSE-100 index gains 44 points
Karachi: The stock market gained 44 points yesterday during its trading session. The rise in the KSE index was attributed to activity of foreign buyers and also due to the high dividend payouts.
