GTA IV can affect the box office of ‘Iron Man’
2008-05-01 15:15:20 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Technology News)Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — CNN reported that since the launch of GTA IV on Tuesday, it has been expected to break the sales records of all video games this week. As the reviews of the game scream perfection, it has been speculated that the game steal even the revenues and glory of ‘Iron Man’, a box office planned to be released this weekend.
In the 9th incarnation video game of GTA IV, the player acts as a criminal who is roaming in a city. The game has been criticized for being too violent as it allows the users to beat, shoot, stab and kill police officers and citizens. ‘Iron Man’ is a movie that is based on a superhero of comic books who creates a suit of armor for saving his life and for helping to save the world.
Research analyst of media and entertainment, Edward Woo, said that the release of the game and its widespread popularity can negatively affect the box office of ‘Iron Man’. He said, “People on Friday or Saturday might find themselves at home playing this game instead of at the Cineplex…’Iron Man’ will still have a pretty good release, but intuitively, I think it’s got be impacted when both share a similar audience and genre.”
