Los Angeles, California: AP reported that Lindsay Lohan, after 2 arrests in 2007 on cocaine possession and drunken driving charges, was featured on Friday in a public advertisement in which she is attacking the legislation for the devices that are used to measure the blood alcohol level in the driver even before the vehicle can start.

The American Beverage Institute paid for the black and white full page advertisement that appeared in the USA Today on Friday. The managing director of the institute that works in the support of the alcohol industry said, “The reason that we used Lindsay Lohan is because she’s had multiple DUIs that have been high profile..We needed to create the distinction for the public what someone with multiple DUIs looked like versus a low blood-alcohol-level first-time offender.”

In several states, the lawmakers have passed the bills which require the drunk driving offenders to install the ignition interlock system. The advertisement suggested that the ignition interlocks are fine for the hard core drunk drivers but the situation will bring a stop to wine at dinners, champagne at weddings and beer at ball games.

Blair Berk, Lohan’s lawyer said, “USA Today is idiotic to run such an irresponsible advertisement suggesting that drinking and driving is some kind of American ‘tradition’ we should protect. Not identifying that this ad was paid for by the liquor and restaurant industries is profoundly reckless.”
