Lahore: Pakistanis have seen many declarations and agreements set by the new coalition government. Starting with charter of democracy going up to Murree declaration all seem to amendable according to the needs of the day. Dubai meeting of political leaders forced changes in the Murree declaration signed and showed off by Asif Ali Zardari and Main Nawaz Sharif, they are now having second thoughts. Will the judiciary be reinstated on May 12, 2008 as now declared by Nawaz Sharif after the conclusive talks with Asif Zardari or will these leaders have second thoughts once again.

President pulling strings – Reinstatement of judiciary against repealing Article 58(2)b

Islamabad: The office sources disclosed that the Musharraf’s office is actively trying to avoid reinstatement of judiciary. The President of Pakistan has through his political aids sent messages to Pakistan Peoples Party that he is ready to do away with Article 58(2)b of he constitution if PPP does not allow reinstatement of judiciary and Musharraf is allowed to carry on a the legitimate head of the state. He has asked the PPP leadership to endorse his decision taken when he had imposed emergency on Nov. 03, 2008.

Team of legal experts to decide upon restoration of judiciary

Karachi: The President of Supreme Court bar Association of Pakistan Aitzaz Ahsan and Abdul Hafeez Pirzada have been included in the team of experts who are likely to come to a decision on the modality through which the deposed judges could be restored. The May 12 date announced by Nawaz Sharif has not been indorsed by Asif Ali Zardari who has said that the committee will try and come to a conclusion as soon as possible.

Yusuf Raza Giliani orders an end to military operation in Baluchistan

Quetta: The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yusuf Raza Gilani pulled a stop to military action in Baluchistan on the issue of hearing the ground realities from the officials of Baluchistan government.

Karachi Stock Exchange registers sharp fall of 165.65 points

Karachi: Karachi Stock Exchange closed at 14,956.82 yesterday marking a sharp fall of 165.65 points.
