New York: CNN reported that all three of the presidential applicants have done some funny mathematics for selling the economic proposals as being fiscally responsible. The campaign aims not only at crafting federal balance-sheet using precision but also about proposal of new ideas.

On Sunday, the plan of Hillary Clinton to compensate for the gas tax holiday offer was criticized by Barack Obama. He said, “Sen. Clinton says that she’s going to use the windfall profits tax. [S]he’s already said that she’s going to use the windfall profits tax for something else, as I have, and that is to invest in clean energy and other important measures. So that money, she’s already spending twice.”

Obama and Clinton are not exclusively relying on the high-income people who pay tax but some the cost-effective measures proposed by them like modernization of the health system as well as reduction in wasteful health expenditure are quite difficult to be quantified.

On the ledger’s Republican side, John McCain wishes to make all the tax cuts of President Bush permanent and to eliminate AMT altogether. As per the estimates of the Tax Policy Center, both the measure can reduce the federal tax revenues by approximately $4 trillion for over a period of 10 years. McCain also relies on the spending cuts for addressing long-term budgetary concerns. Particularly, he has called for elimination of discretionary programs and earmarks that fail to meet their objectives.
