Websites of interest for Women’s Health
2008-05-09 14:36:56 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Health News News)Atlanta, Georgia (CaymanMama.com) — Dr. Anne Nedrow, a medical director at Women’s Primary Care Integrative Medicine in Oregon Health Sciences University, receives daily e-mails from female patients that come from dubious web sites. According to one patient, there is a perfect herb treatment to treat poor levels of libido. However, when Dr. Nedrow checked the link, she found that there was hardly any scientific way of proving the effects of the herb.
Dr. Nedrow received one more e-mail that contained description about a nutritional drink. When she checked the site, she found that the drink was not affiliated to the the website that boasted the drink. Dr. Nedrow found that there it is very difficult to decipher between objective and subjective on the World Wide Web.
According to Dr. Christiane Northrup, a gynecologist and obstetrician, she recommends ‘Fertile Heart’ and ‘The Fertile Soul’ that dwell upon alternative and contemporary therapies. Dr. Nedrow recommends ‘Reynolds Risks Score’ that is designed for women to check whether they have any chance of heart attack.
Dr. Carolyn Runowicz recommends Gynecological Cancer Foundation and Susan G. Komen for Cure. According to Dr. Bernadine Healy, her favorite sites include National Institute for Health, Office on Research on Women’s Heath and Food Drug Administration.
