“Prince Caspian” rocks the box office
2008-05-19 15:31:05 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Entertainment News)Los Angeles, California: It was a win-win situation for “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” at the box office as it knocked down “Iron Man” from the top spot while earning more than $56 million in the opening week. However, Disney expects that “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” will earn more in the upcoming week during Memorial Weekend. The first film of Narnia series earned a whopping $745 million.
According to the president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Group, Mark Zoradi, “This is a film that we think is going to play all summer long and it’s got nothing but school holidays in front of it.” Disney has started with the pre-production of the third movie of Narnia series as “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” that will release in 2010.
In the race to box office, “Iron Man” slipped to the second position just after two weeks of its release and made more than 222 million dollars. According to Paul Dergarabedian, president at Media By Numbers said that “Iron Man” is performing better than “Spider-Man 3.” He continued, “Iron Man continued to hold very well. It’s definitely cutting into audiences across the board.”
