Figure skating champ, Kristi Yamaguchi, wins “Dancing with the Stars”
2008-05-21 15:53:33 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Entertainment News)Los Angeles, California: Pro figure skater, Kristi Yamaguchi, won the finale of “Dancing with the Stars ” and won the mirror ball trophy for her perfect score. The victory of Kristi, a figure skater over Jason Taylor broke the jinx of four male winners. Kristi became the first woman who won the crown of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Kristi said, “This is just the icing on the cake. I honestly thank all the fans out there … everyone who’s made this a dream experience.” Taylor said, “I never, ever thought I would get to this point…Kristi is so deserving.”
It was Cristian de la Fuente was the first elimination at the season’s finale. Fuente ruptured his bicep tendon while he was performing at the April 28th show while delaying the surgery to that he could continue with “Dancing with the Stars.” He said, “I would never have the feeling of going into the final after an injury if it wasn’t for (partner) Cheryl (Burke). She’s been the best partner I could have. She’s been a real friend, not only a dance partner but a support when I really needed her.” Burke said, “Of all my five seasons being on this show…I’ve had one of the best times with Cristian. I love you and I’ll miss you and your family so much.”
In this season of “Dancing with the Stars”, Kristi was a talented dancer who managed to win the title crown while de la Fuente and Taylor were the chief contenders of the title.
