Tampa, Florida (CaymanMama.com) — CNN reported that although we know the importance of the sun for the solar system and for existence of life, there is still a lot more that remains to be known about this superstar. Keeping this in view, the scientists are now planning to make the closest possible visit to the sun through NASA Solar Probe, the spacecraft that is scheduled to be launched in 2015.

The probe will be capable of withstanding high temperatures of about 2600° F and is being built up at the Applied Physics Laboratory of the John Hopkins University. The project costs about $750 million. With the help of the probe, the scientists believe that they will be able to better understand the solar storms and forecast them beforehand. These storms disrupt communication satellites and power grids thus affecting GPS navigations as well as cell phone systems.

The hurricane predictors will also be able to know about the acceleration of the ocean and empowerment of hurricanes. Scientists will also be able to know the reason why the outer atmosphere of the sun is hundred times hotter than its visible outer surface. The probe can capture images and with the help of these, the scientists will be able to solve various puzzles within a period of 7 years. During this period of 7 years, the probe will fly by the planet Venus almost 7 times gradually reducing its orbit size.

Hence, with this probe the scientists across the globe are looking forward to solving some of the mysteries regarding the solar system and universe.
