David Cook wins Season 7 of “American Idol”

While young singer David Archuleta was praised unanimously by all the judges on a previous night of “American Idol,” it was David Cook that became “American Idol.”
Cook was overcome with emotions as he bended towards the stage once his name was announced and said, “This is amazing.” Addressing his brother who accompanied him to the auditions, Cook said, “This is all your fault.” Cook took the microphone and sang “Time of My Life.”
During his three song set, Cook did not follow conventions and chose “The World I Know” for his last performance. He also sang “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” byU2 and “Dream Big.” Cook said, “If I had to choose between playing a song that not a whole lot of people know that I could get behind, or the opposite, I’ll choose the lesser-known every time.”
Usually, it was seen the ratings for “American Idol” were low but it was the final episode that created frenzy where more than 97 million votes were cast in comparison to last years 74 million votes. Ryan Seacrest, the host of “American Idol” said that Cook won by 56% votes and Archuleta got 44% votes making the win by over 12 million votes total.
