Palo Alto (Reuters): US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who is visiting California along with British Foreign Secretary said that US will continue to impose sanctions on Iran until the country gives up its quest for nuclear enrichment. US will not allow them to use the banking channels to pass profits made from terrorism.
Soldiers deployed to control attacks on immigrants in South Africa
Johannesburg (AF) 42 people have died and almost 16,000 are homeless due to the attacks by enraged mobs on the immigrants. Soldiers have been deployed alongside police to help in controlling the situation.
French workers stage protests against President’s policies.
Paris (AFP): The workers in France stages protests against the policies of the government. The one day strike was a great show of strength against pension reforms.
Kuwait introduces now Visa policy
Kuwait: Foreigners would need to apply for a 3 months visit through the Kuwaiti consulates in their countries. The visa holders would be able to apply for extension of visa which can be extended till one year.
Britain to stop using Cluster Bombs
London: In the Dublin International Conference attended by 100 countries, the British Prime Minister announced the UK will gradually phase out the use of cluster bombs. US, Russia and Israel were absent from the conference.
