Husain Haqqani arrives in US to begom assignment as Pakistan’s Ambassador

Washington D.C. (CaymanMama.com) — Hussain Haqqani arrived in Washington on Tuesday to take over his new assignment as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US. This is Haqqani’s second assignment as an ambassador. His first assignment was as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka in the early 1990’s. Haqqani has experiences as a journalist, writer, diplomat, and advisor. Husain Haqqani replaced former ambassador Mahmud Ali Durrani.

Husain Haqqani possesses quite a large list of accomplishments and positions. Of which include being Director of the Center for International Relations, a Professor at Boston University, and Co-Chairman of the Hudson Institute’s Project on the future of the Muslim World, and last but not least, editor of the journal ‘Current Trends in Islamist Thought’ which is published in Washington D.C.

Already supported by his well-known reputation in Washington D.C., Husain Haqqani received a warm welcome when arriving in Washington. Haqqani was appointed Ambassador-at-Large at the beginning of the new democratic government, last month. The American media describes Haqqani as an influential figure in Washington’s diplomatic and political circles.
