Tucson, Arizona (CaymanMama.com) — CNN reported that NASA was unable to send instructions to the Mars Lander Phoenix on Tuesday because a radio glitch delayed activities on the second day. The NASA officials said that the problem was mended in the later part of the day and the Mars orbiter could relay the images took by the Lander of the extraterrestrial landscape to the earth.

Phoenix is the spacecraft sent to Mars on Sunday and it communicates with the human scientists by way of two orbiters that circle the planet: The Reconnaissance and Mars Odyssey. The Phoenix has let the scientists peek into the northern arctic area of the planet Mars and the land on which it has landed is flat and the ground has polygon shape of patterns which are supposed to be caused by the contraction and expansion of the underground ice.

Peter Smith, the principal research of the mission, said that on Tuesday, they are planning to undo the 8-foot robotic arm of the Lander from the protective sleeve which held it in its place. This arm will be used to dig into Mars soil to reach into the ice that is believed to be some inches or even one foot deep. This may provide strong evidences of whether there is or was life on the planet or not. The arm will be able to look for whether ever the ice melted in the history of the planet and whether samples of Mars soil contain any trace of the organic compounds.
