Massachusetts new law about water protection
2008-05-30 13:41:23 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Law News)Dallas, TX (CaymanMama) — One of the major themes for the 2008 year is “going green.” Many businesses, households, and individuals have already started to go green by doing small things such as conserving water, electricity, buying hybrid cars, and even making school buildings more energy efficient. In the latest effort to help save the environment the state of Massachusetts has gone a step further by putting a law into use that will protect the states’ ocean water.
The law will protect the 1.6 million acres of ocean water that the state is in control of by setting limitations to all projects that will take place in the water including energy projects. Besides just plans to protect the water the state of Massachusetts plans to make a wind farm, liquid natural gas terminals amongst other environmentally safe products.
Although this new law does not protect past projects such as the first offshore wind farm. 5 years ago, none of the states had any plans to protect the ocean but Massachusetts stepped up to the plate and decided to make a law that would start. The protection of the ocean water will be managed by a board of 17 members from the fishery, environmental groups and more.
