Journalist Tim Russert Dead
2008-06-14 15:29:12 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Entertainment News)Seattle, Washington (CaymanMama.com) — On Friday Tim Russert, one of the leading journalists of America and anchor of NBC’s show “Meet the Press” died at 58. Tim Russert was a well known political journalist that collapsed on Friday. He was confirmed dead when he was taken to Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington.
Tom Brokaw, a former anchor with NBC and a colleague of Tim Russert broke news of the demise of Russert at 3:40 PM. Tim Russert had returned from vacations in Italy with his son Luke and journalist wife Maureen Orth while looking forward to celebrate the Luke’s Boston College graduation. Brokaw said, “I think I can invoke personal privilege and say this news division will not be the same without his strong, clear voice.” He continued, “He will be missed as he was loved – greatly.”
The colleagues and friends remembered Tim Russert as one of the most influential and respected journalist who was a staunch Catholic and a great individual and friend who loved Buffalo Bills- his home team.
James Carville a friend of Tim Russert who often visited Washington National games together said, “I just loved the guy. He had this enthusiasm about all of the things that life brings to you.” He added that “My wife and I are in a complete state of utter shock.”
Tim Russert was born in Buffalo, New York on 7th May, 1950 to Timothy John Russert Sr., a truck driver with newspaper and Elizabeth Russert, a sanitation worker. The Mayor of Buffalo, Byron .W. Brown ordered that all flags in city should be lowered at half staff as a make of respect and honor for deceased Tim Russert. Tim Russert graduated from Canisius High School and then went to John Carroll University and Cleveland Marshall Law College. He was bar member in Columbia District and New York.
