Detroit, Michigan (CaymanMama.com) — When James Silva was in second grade, he didn’t simply play Zelda and Super Mario on Nintendo. Silva also drew pictures and created stories about new levels and future games. While other children dream of making it big as a president or an astronaut, Silva was hooked on designing a video game.

Over the past few years, the concepts of game developers have been shrinking where a handful of big players have been using in-house teams of programmers. However, Silva is single game maker with an Xbox 360. Silva is one of those independents who distributes game to the Internet based consoles along with the makers of game box eswhile meeting the demand of various titles beyond the usual affair of shooting game and other big budgeted sequels.

As a part of digital distribution, Sony Corp., Nintendo Co. and Microsoft have come up with their channels along with their consoles. With these channels, the final risk is quite low and for the console markers, it is wonderful way of keeping an eye on the upcoming and new talent apart from increasing the titles.

According to the co-founder of Multiverse Ntework Inc. and Netscape’s veteran, Corey Bridges, “They understand market dynamics, how platforms work. They see how Indies can get in there and disrupt things.” The dynamic growth of digital distribution is equally strong as that of publishers of video games. For a popular game like “Grand Auto Theft”, it takes years of development and millions of dollars. While many big companies are not interested in taking undue risks, they are just relying on tried and tested games while developing its sequels.

This year, Silva who was a former dishwasher and lives at Utica, New York, became the new poster boy of Microsoft’s XNA Game Studio. After winning the “Dream-Build-Play”, a contest from Microsoft, Silva’s new game “Dishwasher: Dead Samurai” is going to be published with Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade.
