Fresno, California (CaymanMama.com) –  Demetrios Leontaris, been better known as the iPod Doctor, says that he can do 80% of the repairs needed on Apple iPods on site. Leontaris cruises Manhattan in his black Pontiac Aztek during the day meeting the needs of upset people who own an iPod and are experiencing problems.

The objective of Apple is to manufacture iPods and sell them to the customers rather than repairing old ones. Leontaris repairs iPods with problems that Apple engineers will not attempt to touch. Apple has sold more than 150 million portable music players since 2001; this figure could never have been reached if the company repaired the old ones. Although the company takes responsibility of iPods under the warranty program, they do not repair it if the damage was caused due to the fault of the customer.

Leontaris, 33, makes his living by repairing iPods for a fee. When people drop their iPod’s on the pavement, the impact creates hard drive breaks or screen cracks, which is not a big problem for the iPod Doctor. He suggests that if your iPod falls in water, never plug it to the electric outlet because this will only fry its circuitry and the condition will be worsened.

Leontaris gets the spare parts like screens, batteries, input jacks and headphones from a Chinese manufacturer and extracts some parts from the broken or used iPods that he purchases from customers. Other than iPods, he also repairs Microsoft Zunes, Creative Zens, RCS Lyras, iBooks, Laptops, PDAs and MacBooks.

Surprisingly, the doctor has not completed any courses on repairing these instruments. When he was a teenager, he used to go to his father’s shop and repaired microwaves, broken computers, 8-track players and VCRs that tenants used to throw in trash. He says that he has been repairing electrical instruments all through his life.
