Atlanta, Georgia (CaymanMama.com) — CNN reported that sales the top brands of energy drinks have skyrocketed during 2007. All this increased consumption of caffeine has also given rise in the number of caffeinated mothers. A study conducted by the National Sleep Foundation revealed that over 65% of mothers drink energy drinks or caffeinated beverages for getting through the day. For this purpose, a double latte for the morning, a soda for lunch and an energy drink in midday do perfectly well.

Stacy DeBroff, an author and a parenting expert, says that today’s mothers are busiest ever; they have to work round the clock as well as take care of the kids for which they need to be always active and energetic.

Caffeine suppresses the neuro-transmitters of the brain which would as a rule release the nerve impulses which make us feel tired. According to the experts, this is the main reason why people become addict to caffeine. But there are side-effects of caffeine like it can trigger heart burns, migraines, gastro-intestinal troubles and place women at an enhanced risk of getting miscarriage.

Dr. Allen Dollar, a cardiologist at the Emory University, says that caffeine makes the person nervous, pulse races, jittery and premature heart beat, but these effects are only short-term and do not have any long-term effects whatsoever. In comparison to caffeine consumption, other habits like drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and over-eating are more harmful for the body.

Although caffeine is not that dangerous, getting addicted to a stimulant to get on working is not good. In order to boost up the energy level naturally, one should develop a good and balanced schedule of sleep. As per the experts at NIH, adults need 7-8 hours’ of night sleep and if they do not take caffeine, they can fall sleep earlier even after 5 pm. Exercise and proper diet also play an important role in keeping up the energy level.
