Macy’s NYC fireworks show celebrates Independence Day
2008-07-05 16:17:47 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - News)Manhattan, New York (CaymanMama.com) — A spell of rain and clouds did not diminish the enthusiasm of millions of tourists and New Yorkers from all across the world who came to experience the annual Macy’s NYC fireworks show celebrating American Independence Day.
The country’s largest fireworks show exploded in a beautiful spectrum of colors all over the east river, momentarily stealing the limelight from the skyline of New York and helping in bringing an exquisite end to the July fourth celebrations.
This crowd-pulling show was attended by at least three million spectators and was moved on the south along the stream so that onlookers could get spectacular views of the sky.
The audience thronged the front side of the river with umbrellas in red, blue and white colors.
Edwin Aleman had staked out the viewing spot at the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn many hours before the show actually began. Aleman told WNYM-TV, “These are million-dollar views. This is what New York City is all about: the views, the skyline.”
In the show, at least 35,000 shells arched, sparkled, fanned and spiked over the river during the half-hour show, which was sponsored by Macy. It has been launched from the barges in twin areas.
This show was televised on the show of NBC and in songs such as “Give My Regards to Broadway”, “Yankee Doodle” and of course “Tennessee Waltz.”
According to the organizers, this year’s show also displayed nautical fireworks that floated on the water. On the other side, new shells processed through multiple transformations after they were launched and provided four diverse effects.
The officials told the media persons that this was potentially very dangerous and and even when the shipment arrived it had its own private escort by the Fire Department.
