Cartoon fame for ‘Car Talk’ guys
2008-07-08 14:43:19 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Entertainment News)Boston, Massachusetts (CaymanMama.com) — Ray Magliozzi and Tom, also known as Clack and Click of the famous “Car Talk” series, have come out with a new series. Magliozzi said, “I hope that people look at it mercifully.” The half hour series is known to portray environmental and social messages in an animated sitcom. The show will be aired at 8PM on Wednesday on PBS and features the exploits of Clack and Click hosting a radio show along with a car repair that often mirrors their Good News Garage. The show will be aired for five weeks with two episodes.
However, in comparison to the humor of “As the wrench turns”, “Car Talk” is one of the most listened-to programs on NPR. In the series of “Car Talk”, both Magliozzi and Tom animate their selves for the TV series. However, “Car Talk” is different from “As the wrench turns.” One will not find any phone calls from the distressed owners of car and there will be no bantering and silly jokes. On the other hand, the program will be a family show somewhat like “The Simpsons” or “Family Guy.” The story line of “Car Talk” showcases the fund raising efforts so as to give a boost to their bankrupt radio that involves their run towards White House and outsourcing their show to India and creating a pasta-fueled vehicle.
Unlike the NPR series, “Wrench” has a large caste of characters in its series that has mechanics Stash, Fidel and Crusty. Magliozzi’s Boston accent and rich laugh of Tom one finds the fun. According to the senior VP of and chief television programming executive at PBS John, F. Wilson says, “They are the first to admit that they have the perfect faces for radio. If you think about some of your favorite animated characters, there’s always a great voice underneath them.”
