Jackson, Mississippi (CaymanMama.com) — Nintendo is readying to release the most recent installment of the famous Wii gaming series, Wii Music, for this holiday season. Wii Music will allow users to play 60 instruments by mimicking of the movements with controllers. Nintendo has also revealed the Wii Resort that will take advantage of new Wii MotionPlus accessory. It will improve the precision of current Wii remote-controllers.

Another launch this season is the Animal Crossing: City Folk. It takes the popular franchise to a bigger city where players can create characters on their own following the urban world. The game makes use of the new WiiSpeak microphone which enables a chatting option for online interacting players. The Nintendo lineup features far more mature fare inclusive of the surprise installment of Grand Theft Auto, an open world game which has collected criticism for violent game play.

At the E3 Video Game Expo held in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the Sony Computer Entertainment America declared a $100 price cut for the top end PlayStation 3 console. Nintendo and Sony have outlined their plan to beat the competition post releasing consoles released 2 years ago. Sony said that it is building the console hardware lineup of about 180 GB PlayStation 3 model, which will sell for about $399 in September. It will thereby replace the $499 80 GB model which offered the backward capability with the older PlayStation games as well as $399 40 GB model. This move came 2 days after Microsoft said that it is cutting $50 off on the price of its 20 GB Xbox 360 Pro.

Sony has been quite slow in the U.S. with PlayStation 3, following the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Jack Tretton, CEO and president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, stated that he expects this year will be attributed to PlayStation 3 completely because of the broad game lineups, online features and video content.
