Maoists decide not to form government
2008-07-22 12:40:19 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - World News News)Kathmandu (CaymanMama.com) — After their landslide victory paving the way to end a 239-year old monarchy, the Maoists have failed to form a government in Nepal. The presidential nominee of the Maoist group lost by 282 to 308 votes to Nepali congress party candidate Ram Baran Yadav.
The Maoists, with their over all win the in general elections in the country, were expected to form the government. They have now decided not to take part in government forming activities as they believe that an alliance of their rivals have blocked their way.
Prachanda, the 53-year old Maoist leader, said “Now we’ll not go (in) to the government.”
The concern now is that Nepal will be governed by an unstable alliance with difference in ideologies.
