Kansas City, Missouri (CaymanMama.com) — Samsung and Sony along with other consumer electronic heavyweights are uniting in order to support technology which could send wireless high definition video signals from a solo top box set to television screens around the house.

The association, which has not yet been announced, is an essential growth in the race to create a specific way to swap out a growing web of video cables. Both Samsung and Sony are supporting competitive technology.

In the new association, Samsung Electronics Co. and Sony Corp. along with Motorola Inc., Hitachi Ltd. and Sharp Corp. will expand an industry standard concerning technology from Amimon Ltd of Israel called Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI).

Amimon is currently selling chips which fulfill a section of that promise, nevertheless, the creation of the industry consortium makes it more probable that customers will be capable of buying WHDI enabled devices and equipments from various manufactures.

Noam Geri, the co-founder of Amimon said, “If you have a TV in the home, that TV will be able to access any source in the home, whether it’s a set-top box in the living room, or the PlayStation in the bedroom, or a DVD player in another bedroom.” Noam expects televisions with the Amimon’s chip will be launched by the start of next year.

The wireless high def streaming videos are a comparatively complicated engineering problem, which numerous companies are in the process of tackling. It can be done by using a speedy version of Wi-Fi, the technology already a part of many houses. The technology, however, requires reduction or compression of the data rate with the picture quality as outcome. There is also a delay in the transmission as the chips on both the ends of link work in order to compress, then decompress the picture.

Sony is a part of a WirelessHD group and is also supporting WHDI in order to have more options, while Samsung looks at WHDI as temporary solution technology until superior image quality WirelessHD invasions.
