Islamabad: One more pawn of President Musharraf toppled by the government. The FBR chief M. Abdullah Yousuf was sacked and Board of Investments Ahmed Waqar was appointed in his place. The chairman of Federal Board of Revenue was in Geneva where he was meeting WTO ministerial meeting and was scheduled to head to Moscow to meet Russian officials when he removal orders were issued.
West sees hopes with capture of Taliban commander in Baluchistan
Islamabad: The security forces, through their sources that requested anonymity have told Reuters that an important Taliban commander Mullah Rahim has been captured in a raid carried out by the security forces on a tip off that some leaders on Taliban are hiding with an Afghan family. After the capture, Taliban sources have said that Mullah Rahim had been instantly replaced by Mullah Nayeem.
Extradition of criminals discussed between Iran and Pakistan
Islamabad: Rehman Malik, advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior met Seyed Mehdi Hasemi, the acting interior minister of Iran. They discussed and agreed upon extradition of criminals. At present Pakistan has 190 Iranian prisoners in Pakistan and Iran holds 140 Pakistanis. Iranian Ministers also requested extradition of 16 people who are detained in Pakistan on charges of kidnapping 17 Iranian nationals last month.
Women forced to offer her children for sale
Hyderabad: With her husband in jail on false charges of robbery, where he has been for the past many years, Aisha Malik, with her children slept for days together at a shrine. Now, when she had no money to feed the kid she offered them for sale in the local bazar, where she attracted attention of the media and was brought to Ansar Burney Welfare Trust. She points out at accusing finger to her own brothers who wanted Aisha Malik to take divorce from her husband and have threatened her and her in laws. She says her only bad deed was getting married without the consent of her brothers.
Bulls continue to rally at the Karachi Stock Exchange
Karachi: The positive mood carried overnight and the stock exchange saw a rise of 213 points taking the Karachi Stock Exchange to 11,018.50 points
