Fight breaks out at Billy Joel concert
2008-07-26 15:43:30 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Entertainment News)North Brunswick, New Jersey (CaymanMama.com) — A couple from New Jersey got more than just a bruise and a few scratches after a lawsuit was filed following a fight at Shea Stadium during a Billy Joel concert.
In a notice of a claim filed with the office of the city comptroller, Wendy Siegel and Bryan of North Brunswick, New Jersey charge that they were handled roughtly by the security guards of stadium. This action puts New York City on a notice about the fact that the Siegels have contemplated to file a suit worth $5.5 million.
According to Sanford Rubenstein, the plaintiff’s lawyer, the incident occurred only after there was intervention by the couple in a dispute that had occurred between an older couple and four drunk women in the concert of Joel’s farewell.
Rubenstein narrated the incident and clarified the role of the Siegel’s in the dispute between the older couple and the drunken women. The Siegel’s had tried to intervene on behalf of the older couple. In the meantime, the security guards manhandled the Siegel’s and handcuffed Bryan Siegel. Wendy Siegel, 26, received bruises during the dispute but was not handcuffed.
Rubenstein added, “It is a travesty that two innocent people attempt to tell the truth to Shea Stadium security about the victimization of an elderly couple, get assaulted by Shea Stadium security, one charged with a criminal act, when they did nothing wrong.”
Rubenstein said that the notice that had been filed against New York City and this is due to the fact that the city legally owns Shea Stadium. Ultimately, the action of filing the case against the city was taken, despite the fact that the guards are employees of the stadium.
