Seattle, Washington (CaymanMama.com) — While Rev. Timothy Wright remained in critical condition in a hospital in Pennsylvania, friends and family members all over the nation remembered his wife and grandson at a memorial service in Brooklyn.

The Church of God in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Washington was fully packed with mourners like Rev. Al Sharpton as well as bishops from all over the nation who gathered to pay tribute to Betty Wright as well as her grandson Daniel “DJ” Wright.

Betty Wright and her grandson were killed when on the night of July 4 when their car smashed into another car going the wrong direction on eastbound Interstate 80. The driver died on the spot.

Timothy Wright, the founding pastor of the Grace Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Crown Heights, was critically injured during the crash and has been admitted in a Pennsylvania hospital since that time.

The caskets of Betty Wright and DJ were displayed for the grieving family and friends as a choir that was 120-strong performed in their name.

Daniel Wright lost his mother as well as his son in this “a double whammy,” and thanked the full congregation for all their love and support.

He added further, “Pastor Wright is going to be all right.” Throughout the ceremony, he maintained his composure as he spoke in memory of his 15-year-old son, who he used to call “pork chop.”

Rev. Al Sharpton addressed the crowd in the honor of Betty Wright, who he used to call a junior pastor.

He added, “You won’t have to make excuses for Betty; you won’t have to make excuses for DJ…We’re not at a crack funeral.”
