El Paso, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — According to a recent research survey conducted by Reuters on patients in a New York hospital, it has been found that overweight and obese patients have lesser chances of death caused heart failure than people of normal weight. In fact, normal weight people have a greater risk of death due to dysfunction of the heart.

Studies carried out on patients of a New York hospital reveal that most people who die of heart failure are people with normal weights. This is because a normal body mass index (BMI) is not the ideal BMI in people with heart failure, which takes place when the heart loses its ability to pump blood efficiently. Several professors from the University of Alberta, Canada, spoke to Reuters officials and stated that after a thorough study on the impact of BMI on mortality carried out on normal weight, under weight and overweight people, it has finally been proven that obese or over weight people have the most unlikely chances of deaths due to renal heart failure.

These researchers concluded that being obese brought in a protective case against death in a risk adjusted analysis. However, even after extensive researches, the actual causative reasons are still unknown.

As a result, prospective studies are still ongoing regarding the actual depth of the matter. Many heart failure and chronic haemodialysis patients who have been of normal weight finally prove that fat content in the body often times helps as a protective shield. In such a risk-adjusted analysis, obesity does help in protecting the body from developing chances of heart failure.
