Karachi, Pakistan (CaymanMama.com) — The Sindh Assmebly session that was held today voted in favor of the resolution demanding the President of Pakistan to take a vote of confidence from the national assembly. The motion was tabled by the Sindh law minister Ayaz Soomro.

MQM, which is an ally of the ruling party in the provincial setup, was absent from the parliament. Opposition leaders on this occasion said that the government was taking unconstitutional steps of impeaching the President.

Five MPA’s belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party also absented themselves from the proceedings. A total of 93 votes were cast out of which the Peoples Party’s vote totaled to 88. The Pakistan Muslim League turncoats also voted in favor of the resolution.

No votes were cast against the resolution in the Singh assembly as the parties opposing the resolution did not attend the session of the parliament today.

Sindh, NWFP, and the Punjab assemblies have voted in favor of the resolution building pressure on the President to resign ahead of the vote of confidence. All eyes are now on Baluchistan assembly. The Information Minister Sherry Rehman recently told the media that the government will table the resolution in the National assembly next week.

The U.S. think tank, Rand Corporation, has said that the governments move to impeach the president might fail due to the lack of numbers and the country’s army would not like that an ex-army man is forced to step down with disgrace.
