Hartford, Connecticut (CaymanMama.com) — Following an AIDS conference in Mexico, former Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox is at her home on Monday recuperating from spinal surgery after the singer suffered a back injury and had to go back early.

As per her website,  Lennox flew back to Britain last week and had to be wheeled from the plane in a wheelchair. In her blog, Lennox said, ‘A first I must say! Felt a bit like Elizabeth Taylor. Some of my plans and schemes have had to be put on hold because there is not much I can do if I can’t walk properly.”

Spinal experts and surgeons conducted the operation at a London hospital during the weekend to release a trapped nerve in Lennos’ back that was affecting her left leg. A message on her website let fans know that the surgery was a success and that Lennox was at home recovering.

According to Reuters, the back injury that Lennox suffered will cause her to postpone the promotion of her new album until early next year–it was due to be released mid-September. “The injury has also forced Lennox, an AIDS activist, to cancel her appearance on Wednesday at the Edinburgh Festival of Politics where she was due to talk about her AIDS awareness campaign, SING.”
