Austin, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — The fans of Dave Matthews Band are saddened this Wednesday as the news hit of the death of LeRoi Moore, the impressive saxophonist whose signature jazz and funk fusion added an interesting sound to the eclectic group. Moore passed away on Tuesday due to complications from the severe injuries he suffered following an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Moore, 46, died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, after he was admitted with complications weeks after the June 30th ATV accident, as per a statement on the band’s Web site. The statement, however, did not clarify what exactly lead to Moore’s death and the nursing supervisor that the Medical Center would not release any further details at press time.

At the time of the accident, Moore was riding his ATV on Charlottesville, Virginia farm, but was released from the hospital and returned to his L.A. home to begin his recovery. Not too long after returning home, however, Moore experience complications forcing him to return to the medical center on July 17, the band said.

The show must go on, as is the theory in the music business and in Moore’s memory, Dave Matthews dedicated their entire Tuesday night show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to their old friend and band mate.

As per the Associated Press, “It’s always easier to leave than be left,” Matthews told the crowd, according to Ambrosia Healy, the band’s publicist. “We appreciate you all being here.”

Fans of the band expressed their grief over Moore’s death and wondered how the future of the band would play out without the essential saxophonist. “LeRoi was just super important to the band,” said fan Shawn Harrington prior to the show on Tuesday.  “That’s how the band came to be.”
