Tokyo (CaymanMama.com) — As per CNN Technology News, the government of Japan plans to introduce the country’s most popular mobile phone known as “Wallet Phone” to the outside world. The phone is expected to hit the world by storm. Japan’s cellular technology is considered to be the most sophisticated in the world and is known for delivering video downloads, high speed internet connection and digital TV broadcasts.

Japan has struggled to sell its wireless technology, mobile services and handsets to the world.

Wallet Phones are not new for Japan; they have been around since 2004 with the most recent models of handsets equipped with the wallet function. The sets works through a tiny computer chip called FeliCa, developed by Sony Corp. Each phone carries this computer chip that communicates with the reader devices at train station, vending machines and at stores for cashless payments.

The popularity of these wallet phones in Japan was due to the lack of use of Credit card but this can be different else where in countries like United States where credit cards are more commonly used.

Similarly, Japan also plans to promote other wireless technology like Global system for mobile communication and 3 G mobile phones with GSM and the more futuristic 4th generation wireless technology.

At present, out of 104 million 3G handsets being used in the world, Japan leads by 90% of these 3G handsets being used there.
