Army backed operation against militants in Bajaur complete
Islamabad: The army officials have revealed that the operation in Bajaur has been completed and the army has been successful in chasing away the militants. The spokesman of ISPR said that even after the government had declared a halt to the operation, militants were seen moving towards the security check posts on Monday firing mortars shells that killed 2 civilians, 20 members of the security forces died in the attack, he said, the main leaders of militants are on the run and their back has been broken.

Islamabad: : “We want to take all political forces along in our quest for national success … We are supported in our efforts by almost all political parties except for some ‘friends’ who need more political maturity.” Mr. Zardari said at the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He thanked the other political parties that have backed him for being the Presidential candidate and said that he will try to change the system as per the vision of founder of Pakistan Peoples Party and his slain daughter Benazir Bhutto.
Government covers up case of burying women alive in Baluchistan
Islamabad: The case of burying women alive in Baluchistan created uproar in the Senate. The comments by the Baluch senator that these women were subject to honor killing and it was a part of Baluch tradition has not been taken lightly by the senate and the people of Pakistan.
The incident has exposed the culprits but the Pakistan People’s Party government has tried to give the incident a twist covering up for Mr. Zehri (senator) who had openly said that ‘honor killing’ is a part of Baluch tradition.
The Baluchistan high court has taken a notice of the incident setting aside governments interpretation of the incident.
Meezan Bank and Karachi Stock Exchange jointly launch First Islamic Index
Karachi (Geo news): Al-Meezan Bank and the Karachi stock exchange signed an MOU yesterday agreeing to launch Pakistan’s first Islamic Index agreeing to launch Pakistan’s first Islamic Index called KSE—Mezzan Index (KMI). Under the agreement AL-Meezan Bank will provide Shariah expertise, stocks screening, skills and expertise while KSE has agreed to extend dissemination and maintenance support.
KMI will comprise of 30 companies that will go through screening criteria to qualify for KMI.
FIA crackdown on Income tax racket involving millions of Rupees
Karachi: Income tax fraud racket was busted by the Federal Investigation Agency yesterday. Employees of Allied Bank of Pakistan and some senior income tax officials have been found involved in multi-million rupee fraud that involves fake income tax refunds. The amount embezzled is approximately Rs.83 million.
Income tax clerk who has been taken into custody said that 3,063 cheques for income tax refund had been to issued by the different income tax officers and the assistant commissioners, who shared 60% of the take. Rest was distributed amongst the bank official. The Income tax clerk said that he received 10% of the amount so taken.
