Washington: The US secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, yesterday refrained from commenting on the ground assault made inside Pakistani territory that left 15 people dead but said that the US government is closely working with the newly elected civilian government. Though some sources inside the US government confirmed the incident and said that US might continue to attack the terrorist’s hideouts inside Pakistan to route out the terrorism from the region

Turkish mediators get new peace proposals from Syrian authorities

Damascus (AP): The Syrian President has handed over a peace proposal to the Turkish mediators aiming at direct talks with the Israelis. The Syrians are now waiting for the Israeli response before entering into the Turkish mediated peace talks.
