Zardari set for clean sweep into Presidents position

Islamabad: The National Assembly and the senate are casting their votes to select the new President of Pakistan just 18 days after Musharraf’s resignation. Asif Ali Zardari who rose to power after the death of his wife Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of the country has all his pawns set in place who are going to lead him to the country’s biggest office. He has turned out to be the most powerful of the candidates who are contesting for the president’s position. The members of the parliament are casting their votes right now at the time of filing this report.

Situation on both sides of Pakistan & Afghanistan boarder neither perfect nor easy

Washington: The state department official of the US, while commenting on the strained relationship with the Pakistani authorities after the ground attack by the US forces inside Pakistan, said that situation at the either side of the boarder of Pakistan and Afghanistan is neither perfect nor easy. He also confirmed that the US is seeking to improve cooperation with Pakistan to make new arrangements to formalize cross border raids.

Fuel supply to Nato forces stopped

Landi Kotal: The security forces have been ordered to suspend fuel supply to the Nato forces in Afghanistan with immediate effect. The senior government official said that “An order to this effect has come from Islamabad and the Frontier Corps has been asked to stop oil supplies to Nato forces forthwith.”

This step might have taken in retaliation against the attacks being launched by the US led forces inside Pakistan. Beginning with the ground attack the US forces have increased the intensity of the attacks. These attacks have so far resulted in killing of over 50 people in the North and South Waziristan.

Some government officials have denied any such move by the government citing that the local government would have taken such action in wake of security reasons.

Justice Iftikhar left alone – three more judge of Supreme Court take fresh oath

Islamabad: 3 more senior judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan took oath yesterday. Thought the judges took fresh oath, their seniority remained intact. According to the sources 4 more judges are likely to join office next week.

Surprise recovery witnessed at Karachi Stock Exchange

Karachi: In a surprise recovery at the weekend session of the Karachi Stock Exchange was witnessed. Stock gained 102.93 points bringing the index to 9,342.19 points.
