On September 10th, 2008 Microsoft confirmed a new version of their hit media player, the Zune. For those of you who do not know, the Zune is Microsoft’s version of a media player, and has touted to be “the next iPod killer”
The new Zune will have many new features, including, the capability to purchase music directly from the Zune, and an upgraded memory of 16 GB and 120 GB for the larger model. The color scheme will also be different. For those of you who already own, a Zune, on September 16th, there will be a new software update that will allow you to access some new features. The main new feature, will be the ability to download or stream music wirelessly from different hotspots all over the U.S.
In the past, Microsoft and Creative have always tried to make a media player that provided better features than the iPod, and have succeeded many times. Apple announced their latest line of iPods yesterday, Microsoft announced the Zune update a day later, is this coincidence or just a marketing ploy? Only time will tell.
