CIC to buy 49% stake in Morgan Stanley

Beijing (AFP) Financial Times reported that Morgan Stanley might sell its 49% share to China Investment Corp. The possibility of such sale is high and the CIC President Gao Xiging is likely to meet the top executives of Morgan Stanley in San Francisco. CIC already hold 9/9% stake in the firm. But the CIC officials spoke out the deal with the state run television network and said that there are hurdles inside United States on such investments. Even a small foreign investment as 10% comes under review of the US government.

Indian Police kills terrorist involved in New Delhi Bomb Blasts

New Delhi: Indian police crack down at the hideout of the suspected terrorists resulted in killing 2 suspects. 2 fled from the scene. One police inspector was also killing in the fierce exchange of fire between the police and the suspects.

US President calls for “pivotal moment for America’s economy”

Washington: (Reuters) The US President George W. Bush on Friday said that governments intervention was necessary to arrest the downfall of the US economy. He said “We must act now to protect our nation’s economic health.” He spoke in meeting with the US Treasury after the US treasury secretary unfolded plans to offload billions of dollars of bad debts from banks.

France and India close to signing a nuclear energy deal

New Delhi (AFP): France and India will be signing a nuclear energy deal during the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to France on September 30, 2008. The deal is similar to the one India has signed with the United States. The text of the agreement was finalized during the French President’s visit to India in January this year.

Dismayed N. Korea starts rebuilding Yongbyon nuclear plant

Seoul (Reuters) After much efforts of persuading US to strike off N. Korea’s name from the list of country’s sponsoring terrorism, North Korea stepped back and announced rebuilding of its nuclear plant that it had dismantled earlier. The plant has the capability of producing bomb grade plutonium. The North Korean foreign minister spoke to the KCNA news agency said “The DPRK (North Korea) neither wishes to be delisted as a ‘state sponsor of terrorism’ nor expects such a thing to happen.”
